Two-part Workshop Series on Cultural Humility and The Language of Inclusion

This two-part workshop series facilitated by Amanda Florence Garcia Goodenough (she/her/hers) will be centered around diversity, inclusivity, and equity. Amanda is a dedicated educator operating from a cultural humility framework to center and elevate historically marginalized voices, promote belongingness and mattering, disrupt structural inequities, and advance intersectional social and racial justice. She is the CEO & Founder of Goodenough Consulting and a Team Lead & Partner for Social Responsibility Speaks.

The first session of the workshop conducted on the 8th of March (International Women’s Day) will tackle the topic of Cultural Humility: Moving Beyond Cultural Competence to Advance Equity & Social Justice. Cultural humility refers to a framework that advances equity and social justice by intentionally living at the crossroads of who we are, how others see us, and where power positions us within a system. In this introspective workshop, participants will learn how to engage in critical self-work, gain a deeper understanding of individual and group membership, identify systemic inequities, and explore ideas for applying cultural humility principles into personal and professional spheres of influence.

The second workshop will be on the 28th of March and will explore the language of inclusion. Join this conversation to explore how we can make institutions, organizations and workplaces more inclusive by addressing the “little” things, like microaggressions, before they become the big things. It takes intentionality to ensure our everyday, commonplace exchanges, and environmental symbols don’t exclude people based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, size, age, and other social identities. Collectively, we’ll practice noticing, disrupting, and responding to microaggressions to foster belonging and mattering so all members of our organizations can thrive.
