Hear what our Volunteers say about WiE!  ♡

Sandra Kretschmer

Board

"There are many ways WiE played a pivotal role for me. First and foremost, by having a network of strong women. I also benefited greatly from the WiE events and the inspiring female role models and pathways I got to know that way, which really empowered me. During the interview for my current position, my interviewers were really interested in my work for WiE. I guess we talked at least 5min about what WiE is, what I do there, the skills I gained and WiE's mission going forward. I found it great to see that also the private sector is really appreciative of such an organisation, and I am sure it helped showcase aspects of my personality and skills that they were looking for in the position."

"I joined the first round of the mentoring program which helped me to decide that I want to do a PhD. Additionally from the network at WiE I heard the first time about my current PhD advisor."

" My experience in WiE has definitely been a helpful example of my skills in job interviews, but more so than that is the confidence this organisation and its people have given me. From when I started, everyone always treated me and assumed I could achieve more than I realized in myself. It was the complete opposite of being underestimated and instead everyone assumed I could do it (no matter what it was) which pushed me in many different ways and gave me so much encouragement and confidence. Within economics as a whole, it's easy to feel as if you're being underestimated and WiE was the polar opposite environment that I needed as a bachelor's student to feel welcomed in this field and always use to remind myself that I can achieve whatever it may be. Thank you everyone <3 "

HR

"My involvement with Women in Economics (WiE) has significantly enhanced my professional development. Through WiE, I acquired valuable competencies that I successfully demonstrated in a state-level competition, showcasing my ability to apply economic principles in a competitive environment. Additionally, the human resources skills I gained proved instrumental in my leadership role within my school club, enabling me to foster a more collaborative and productive atmosphere. This combination of economic knowledge and soft skills has not only improved my performance in competitions and extracurricular activities but has also laid a strong foundation for my future career. WiE has played a pivotal role in shaping my professional journey, equipping me with a well-rounded skill set that is highly valuable in both academic and professional settings."
