Meet the Team

HR Coordinator
Antonia Kurz
Antonia is a board member and the HR Coordinator at WiE, supporting the other teams through the advertisement, recruitment, and onboarding of new volunteers. She is maintaining oversight of, and contact with, our growing pool of now more than 70 team members. Outside of WiE, Antonia is a Postdoc at DIW Berlin and holds a PhD from TI/VU Amsterdam. Her research is at the intersection of Environmental Economics and Trade. She spends her free time mostly on one of her bikes, counting laps in the pool, learning how to play tennis, or creating new dishes in the kitchen.

Sahar Mahmoudi
Sahar is a PhD candidate at the Berlin School of Economics (BSoE), focusing on gender equality, mental health and social networks in organizations. Passionate about promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, Sahar contributes to WiE as an HR team member. Outside academia, she works as a data scientist and researcher. She also volunteers as a mentor at Back on Track, supporting immigrant youths with difficult backgrounds. On her free time, she enjoys playing boardgames, singing in a choir, dancing and running, reading books, and watching John Oliver’s episodes.

Mathilde Bechdolf
Mathilde is a PhD candidate in Magdeburg, focusing on behavioral economics. Her research examines discontent in participatory systems, biased belief updating about social groups, and factors driving discretionary effort. Passionate about empowering women, she contributes to WiE as an HR team member and mentor. In her faculty, she serves as co-organizer of the Faculty Research Seminar and as Mid-Level Faculty Representative. In her free time, she enjoys playing the French horn in a symphony orchestra, in a quartet, and running.

Katherine Ritchie
Katherine is originally British but now lives in the Netherlands. She completed her MSc in Economics following five years in the UK airport industry and has since worked as an economic consultant and a policy officer, covering a range of topics. Her experience and interests cover regional development, innovation, the labour market, and sustainability, and the linkages between these.
In her free time, Katherine is a rugby referee in the Netherlands. She also enjoys running, reading, and is constantly trying to improve her Dutch skills.
