Meet The Team

Lieke works as a postdoctoral researcher at the IAAEU in Trier, Germany. She obtained her PhD in economics, with a dissertation on prosocial preferences and behavior, from the University of Groningen, where she also completed a Research MSc in Economics and Business and a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Lieke has been a fan (and user) of the WiE mentoring program since the start of her PhD. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside and playing board games with friends.

Purva is a PhD candidate at the FEB Research Institute, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, Netherlands. She holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of Orléans and an MSc in Economics from the Paris School of Economics. Her research focuses on international trade and macroeconomics, with a particular interest in export quality and its implications for macroeconomic outcomes. Outside academia, she enjoys writing poetry, reading, and traveling.

Chiamaka is a Development Economist and Researcher dedicated to solving development challenges with evidence-based solutions. Her work focuses on poverty reduction, economic development, gender inclusion, and public policy. She has contributed to research and projects that expand economic opportunities, financial capability, and livelihoods for women and young people. Chiamaka recently presented her research at the African Finance and Economics Association Conference in Nairobi. She is passionate about translating research into solutions that promote inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

Wiebke is an evaluator and researcher at the German Institute for Development Evaluation (Deval) in Bonn. She holds a BSc in Economics from Hannover and Bristol, an MSc in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Hannover. Her research focuses on economic development in Southeast Asia. Additionally, she consults for the World Bank on adaptive social protection in the Pacific. In her free time, Wiebke enjoys cooking and playing music.

Gill currently works as a competition economist. She studied (BSc) Economics & Econometrics at the University of Bristol and obtained a MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. Her main interests in Economics are applied microeconomics and econometrics. Her Master’s thesis focused on investigating households’ willingness-to-pay for goods and the variation by demographics. In her free time, Gill enjoys cooking and doing Pilates.

Jasmine is a Ph.D. candidate in Finance at Goethe University (GSEFM) and a Junior Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE. She received the SAFE Scholarship in 2022. Since 2021, she has been a designer and coordinator for the Women in Economics Mentoring Program, a Europe-based nonprofit. Additionally, she is a founding member and board member of Education Without Barriers, a global education nonprofit since 2016, and serves on the organizing committee for the Bonn-Frankfurt-Mannheim PhD Conference (2023-2024).

Cristina is the Coordinator for Corporate Collaborations and Data Science Education at the IFO Institute in Munich. She recently earned her PhD in Economics with a focus on firm innovation behavior at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Passionate about mentoring and knowledge sharing, she has committed herself to these goals throughout her research career. Outside of work, Cristina enjoys coffee with friends, exploring new music, going to the cinema, and dancing.
